Artichoke | Sussex Georgian Estate
Victorian Ceramics wall tiles in an exceptional Georgian estate
Victorian Ceramics was delighted to supply the ceramic wall tiles for a bespoke charcuterie kitchen created by renowned British design studio Artichoke as part of the extensive restoration of a significant Georgian estate in Sussex.
The remarkable project brings together a series of highly individual spaces designed around the owners’ passion for field-to-fork living, entertaining and wine collecting. Beneath the principal High Victorian kitchen, Artichoke created an entirely bespoke charcuterie kitchen and cold store, adjoining tasting room and four individual wine cellars.
Inspired by traditional Victorian butcheries and the character of European food halls, the charcuterie kitchen features shopfront-style openings, a Carrara-topped island, professional dry-ageing cabinets and meticulously tiled walls.
Our traditional ceramic wall tiles were selected to complement the richly detailed Victorian-inspired interior, adding colour, depth and authentic character to this highly crafted space.
Project photography by interiors photographer Chris Horwood showcases the finished rooms, with Artichoke specifically crediting Victorian Ceramics Limited for the wall tiles.
The project has also attracted national press attention, featuring in The Times in August 2026 in an article exploring the growing appeal of bespoke luxury charcuterie kitchens.

ELLE Decoration | Mary Portas’s Primrose Hill Home
Glazed olive-green tiles for a Grade II-listed London home
Victorian Ceramics supplied the glazed olive-green ceramic tiles used on the exterior of Mary Portas’s Grade II-listed home in Primrose Hill, London.
The house was redesigned by Space A in collaboration with Architecture 00, creating a warm and highly individual home around a palette of rich sapele, antique brass and glazed olive green.
The project was featured in ELLE Decoration UK’s September 2021 issue as part of The Kindness Project, showcasing the work of Space A and the transformation of Mary Portas’s London home.
The exterior tiles provide a striking example of the versatility of handmade ceramic wall tiles, bringing colour, depth and a richly glazed finish to the entrance of this historic London property.

Reproduction William Morris tiles in a historic Victorian home
Victorian Ceramics’ reproduction William Morris tiles feature in the beautifully restored Victorian home of art dealer and curator Henry Miller in Walthamstow, East London.
The three-storey Victorian property, built in 1900, has been thoughtfully renovated while retaining its period character. In the sitting room, a traditional fireplace is complemented by reproduction William Morris tiles from Victorian Ceramics, chosen as a fitting reference to Walthamstow’s historic connection with William Morris.
The project was featured by Real Homes, highlighting the use of traditionally inspired ceramic tiles within an authentic period interior.
Our William Morris designs are reproduced using traditional techniques, capturing the decorative character and rich colour of the original Arts & Crafts designs while allowing them to be incorporated beautifully into contemporary restorations.

Victorian Ceramics featured in House & Garden
Victorian Ceramics was featured in the September 2016 issue of House & Garden as part of the magazine’s Rank & Style interiors selection.
The feature showcased a selection of our traditional ceramic wall tiles, including Victorian Blue, Deep Blue and Engobe Craquelle Aged. The tiles were selected for their distinctive colour, glaze and authentic period character, reflecting the enduring appeal of traditional Victorian ceramics in thoughtfully designed interiors.
The feature forms part of the long-standing editorial history of Victorian Ceramics, whose handmade ceramic tiles continue to be specified by homeowners, interior designers and architects for period restorations and characterful contemporary interiors.

Perspective Magazine | Selfridges London
A Future-Proof Upgrade
Victorian Ceramics tiles feature in the refurbishment of Selfridges London, one of the capital’s most iconic department stores.
The project was designed by London architecture and interiors studio Waldo Works as part of a major 16-month programme of planning, restoration and refurbishment. The new international customer services space created a sophisticated environment for Selfridges’ international customers, incorporating lounges, VIP areas, a refreshment room, library spaces and other customer facilities.
The project was featured in the June 2015 issue of Perspective magazine in an article entitled A Future-Proof Upgrade. The feature documents the completed interiors and specifically notes the use of turquoise tiles in the refreshment room, carrying the colour theme through from the glass panelling in the Main Hall.
The Selfridges project demonstrates how traditionally made ceramic wall tiles can be incorporated into a highly contemporary commercial interior, providing colour, texture and continuity within a prestigious architectural setting.

Market Halls Victoria, London
A design-award shortlisted project
Victorian Ceramics supplied the deep blue glazed wall tiles and decorative patterned border tiles for the bar at Market Halls Victoria in central London.
The historic Edwardian building was transformed into a vibrant food hall, with the interior designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects and W Design Studio.
The completed project was entered into the 2019 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, where Market Halls Victoria was shortlisted in the Surface Interiors category. The official awards archive features photography of the completed interior, including the distinctive Victorian Ceramics tiled bar.
The project demonstrates how traditional ceramic wall tiles can be used within a contemporary commercial interior to create a strong sense of colour, pattern and architectural character.

Waldo Works | Grade II-Listed London Apartment
Bespoke hand-glazed tiles for a historic London interior
Our bespoke manufacturing has also been commissioned for individual architectural and interior design projects.
For a Grade II-listed apartment in central London, interior design studio Waldo Works commissioned Victorian Ceramics to create hand-glazed period-style tiles in rich blue hues.
The tiles were designed to run around the room and continue into the walk-in shower, creating a strong sense of continuity within the compact space while adding colour, texture and individuality.
The project is documented by Drummonds, which specifically credits the tiles to Victorian Ceramics and confirms that they were commissioned especially for the project by Waldo Works.

Jasmine Simpson | Willow Pattern Tile Mural, London
A bespoke Willow Pattern tile mural created in collaboration with Victorian Ceramics
In 2021, Victorian Ceramics was involved in an ambitious bespoke Willow Pattern tile mural created by ceramic artist Jasmine Simpson for a private residence in London.
The project, undertaken between January and May 2021, formed part of an interior design scheme for a London twin house. Simpson’s intricate Willow Pattern mural was created in collaboration with Johnsons Tiles Ltd and Victorian Ceramics, bringing together traditional ceramic craftsmanship with contemporary artistic design.
The project demonstrates the versatility of Victorian Ceramics beyond traditional period tile schemes, supporting bespoke commissions and collaborative ceramic work where individually considered designs and specialist ceramic tile manufacturing are required.
With its distinctive blue-and-white palette and richly decorative Willow Pattern imagery, the mural reflects the enduring influence of historic ceramic traditions while being reinterpreted for a contemporary interior.
